J'ai commencé a travailler encore une fois sur le pullover que j'avais commencé pour MA en 2004. C'est le Man's Evergreen Aran de Kristin Nicholas, dans Knitting the New Classics. J'avais cessé de tricoter après avoir fait peut-être un tiers du devant, il ya 2 ans. Je n'aime pas les lignes de couture, et je voudrais m'assurer que ce "grand oeuvre" ira bien à MA: alors, je change tout: je consulte Knitting from the Top de Barbara Walker, et j'adapte le patron en tricotant de haut en bas, sans couture, avec emmanchure d'une apparence comme une manche montée, mais en fait une manche à même.

Cette semaine je dessine un schema pour le col et les epaules : combien de rangs courts et de quelle longueur, où mettre des augmentations pour le col soit bien rond, comment intégrer ces fameuses emmanchures montées/à même. Heureusement que MA a un pullover qui lui va très bien (en coton, de Hanna Andersson), alors je prends mes mesurements de celui-ci. Maintenant que j'ai vraiment commencé, j'ai hâte d'avoir quelque chose à essayer sur lui, que ce soit un col de 3 cm!



Got about 1/3 way up the front before losing steam 2 years ago on the Man's Evergreen Aran in Knitting the New Classics by Kristin Nicholas. I've been very interested in not having to do any seams and making sure this huge project really fits - so I bought Knitting from the Top, by Barbara Walker, and I've started all over, adapting the pattern into a from-the-top set-in shoulder (looks set-in but is really knitted all in one) design.

This week I've been drawing up a graph paper schematic, trying to design the neck area: spacing of short rows, increases to make the neck hole more circular, and how to set in the sleeves. MA has a sweater (cotton, Hanna Andersson) that fits well, so I'm using it as a measurements model - can't wait till I have something actually knit to try on him, be it even an inch of the neck area.
